As was the case with many restaurants during the COVID-19 pandemic, the popular Flutters Café at CDS Life Transitions’ headquarters had to close. Unlike many of those, Flutters was resurrected and experienced a grand re-opening on Wednesday, June 19, 2024.

“The reopening serves a dual purpose,” says Chad Williams, Associate Director of Employment Services at CDS Monarch/Unistel, who was on hand to assist the café staff during the re-opening. “The first is that it is an opportunity for individuals to assess their abilities to work in food service. The second is that it allows us to bring back the famous breakfast sandwiches.”

Williams explained that Flutters offers individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities interested in working in food service the chance to explore different areas in this field. These individuals are employed by CDS through CDS Monarch and Unistel Industries’ supportive employment services

Beginning after the re-opening event, the plan is for Flutters to be open for breakfast on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays between the hours of 8:00 – 10:30 a.m. Customers can purchase items using cash or credit/debit.

“CDS Life Transitions employees and anyone visiting the Wolf Center are welcome to stop by Flutters for a tasty breakfast treat,” says Williams.
