CDS Monarch Special Olympics Athletes to Compete at State Summer Games

thletes from CDS Monarch’s Special Olympics team will be competing at this year’s State Summer Games June 10 – 11 at the College at Brockport. Twenty-one CDS Monarch athletes will be competing, 17 of whom will participate in track and field events, and four who will participate in swimming events. Overall, 1,500 athletes and coaches will be present.

“We are very proud of our Special Olympics athletes,” CDS Life Transitions President/CEO Sankar Sewnauth said. “Not only do we have one of the largest teams in Monroe County, but they consistently bring home medals. We are looking forward to seeing how the athletes do and wish them the best of luck at the State Summer Games.”

The opening ceremonies will be held Friday, June 10 at 8:00 p.m. at Eunice Kennedy Shriver Stadium and athletic events will run from 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on June 11.
