Housing projects awarded $3.9 million

Seven local housing development projects comprising 324 homes will benefit from grants announced by the Federal Home Loan Bank of New York.

The projects receiving $3.9 million in grants were requested by two members of the association, First Niagara Bank and M&T Bank, who provide financing.

In Rochester, the grants provide: $1.5 million to the Isla Housing and Development Corp. to help rehabilitate 114 affordable apartments at the Harris Park Apartments project; $710,000 to DePaul Properties Inc. to help conversion of a warehouse into 71 affordable homes known as The Carriage Factory project; $241,625 to the Providence Housing Development Corp. to help build the 21-unit Son House Apartments for homeless people; and $540,000 to Charles Settlement House Inc. to help build Stadium Estates, 45 homes for low- and very low-income families.

The bank is also providing a $750,000 grant to CDS Monarch for 50 units of affordable senior housing in Webster; $71,200 to Heritage Christian Services Inc. to help rehabilitate a long-term supportive living facility in Pittsford for developmentally disabled adults; and $123,500 to Goose II Housing Development Fund Corp. to help build 19 housing units in Henrietta for very low-income seniors.

“These grants reinforce our commitment to address the critical need for affordable housing and economic revitalization in Rochester,” said U.S. Rep. Louise Slaughter, D-Fairport, in a statement.
