Group formed to support National Guard, reservists
…ESGR is an all-volunteer arm of the U.S. Department of Defense that offers education programs for employees and employers, as well as mediation for workplace conflicts. To help spread the word about what an employer’s obligations are, the nine-county Genesee District of ESGR holds briefings over breakfast or lunch for bosses, and recognition events for employers who are especially accommodating of soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines.
…Sankar Sewnauth, CEO of CDS Monarch in Webster, felt the same way a couple of years ago when he received the resume of a veteran who expected to return to service and needed temporary work for three months. Sewnauth said CDS Monarch created a job utilizing Brian Kennedy’s IT experience.
Kennedy returned to Monarch after his duty in Afghanistan and nominated Sewnauth for one of ESGR’s Patriot Awards. Sewnauth said he was humbled by the award, but glad to make the connection with EDGR, as the organization was unaware of Monarch’s clinical and housing services for returning service people, and Monarch was unaware of ESGR until then.
“I was so impressed by their senior leadership coming out and giving an award and giving some awareness to the community about what CDS Monarch is doing for veterans,” Sewnauth said.
